The Cape of Good Hope Pub is located immediately above Cape Top Lock. It’s an attractive location, but it was the large NZ flag on the back of the narrowboat moored outside which first caught our eye. The pub is owned and operated by a kiwi couple.
A left turn at Budbrooke Junction took us to the entrance of the Saltisford Arm.
Apparently the odd hire boat travelling south has missed the left turn and cruised directly into the Arm only to discover it’s a dead end. 
I remember doing something similar at Trevor on the Llangollen Canal. It was in 2001 on the first day of our first hiring of a narrowboat. Getting the boat back out of the arm proved to be quite a challenge for a complete novice.

By coincidence we have spent the weekend moored in the arm during the Saltisford Heritage Open Day Event which is run annually. Some interesting stalls, although Jan stayed well away from the snake handling.
We’ve had a relaxing time here whilst also managing to complete a number of minor boat maintenance jobs. Such a luxury to have hot water 24/7 along with unlimited shore power! However it’s time to move on.

The Cape of Good Hope also has the best burgers in the UK thats cause they are KIWI Burgers toasted and with Beetroot
