It was a quiet night on our mooring south of Brewood. Both of us woke up early and could hear the distant sound of traffic on the M54. We cruised the short distance to Brewood passing under Avenue Bridge.
We moored for an hour in Brewood walking to the village butcher. We’ve purchased there on previous visits and found his products to be excellent.

Jan bought bacon, sausages and some mince along with a steak and kidney pie. I then pressured her into buying me one of their tasty pork pies. I’ve developed a bit of a “thing” for pork pies!
The canal at Brewood was getting slightly busy by the time we returned to Waiouru. It’s a pretty spot but the TV reception in the cutting isn’t that great.
The two moored boats we noticed on the north side of Brewood last year are still there.
You might wonder why their owners bother to buy a license if they are going to be left in that state. But then maybe they aren’t licensed?
Further along the moorings nb Spirit of Phoebe may be pint sized but she looks loved
Two groups of elderly towpath walkers passed us as we approached Stretton Aqueduct. These days everyone who looks older than me is elderly!
There was a queue at Wheaton Ashton lock. There was some friendly banter with the Australian crew of a hire boat coming up. They were from Brisbane but had lived in Perth like us. The lady told Jan they had been to Iceland before hiring the boat. Jan informed her that she (Jan) had been to Iceland on many occasions for the cheap shopping! 
All three water points below the lock were empty (must be the time of year) and whilst we were topping up Richard (nb Pendle Warter) appeared. We first met Richard at the Black Country Museum and then met him going up the Ashby Canal as we were coming down. He is going around the Four Counties Ring but in the opposite direction. We’ll probably next see him in Stone.
You don’t go through Wheaton Ashton without stopping at Turners Garage for cheap fuel. today the price was 51.9ppl. We topped up all three tanks taking a total of 241 litres.
We moored at Little Onn for an hour to have a late lunch (including pork pie) before continuing on to Gnosall Heath finding a vacant mooring just before The Boat Inn.

It does annoy us still, when we see boats in the terrible condition of the ones you pictured here that are still floating and unloved when we invested so much effort and cash keeping ours in mint condition (above the water at least) during our ownership and lost it to being sunk while at the same time being forced to pay a huge amount of cash while undergoing its below the water [lack of] maintenance by the so called professionals. There is no justice in this world.

Been following your travels and when we realised you were heading up the Severn and onto the Staffs and Worcester wondered if you would turn up the Shroppie. It looks as if we will miss you once again as we are home in Wales till Tuesday when we return to Audlem by which time we expect you'll be well past us. Carry on enjoying your cruising and keeping us all entertained with your blog.

We're back on board on the 4th then heading the other way up Audlem flight for a leisurely trip to Stourport for the winter, have to be through stoppages by the 7th November. If your not in Nantwich till 8/9th we hopefully will see you.
