Time to move to a new part of the Loire Valley. Just a one hour drive east to Blois. Our accommodation wasn't available until 4pm so we decided to go for a ride west of Blois. It was a 'there and back' ride with the aim of cycling to Chateau de Chaumont-Sur-Loire. The chateau is on the top of a cliff above the river.
The chateau is renown for its gardens. After paying to visit two chateaus yesterday we opted to skip this chateau. There will be a better one tomorrow.
The route took us through the picturesque village of Cande-Sur-Beuvron. The cycle path uses the old stone bridge
Initially I thought this building was a small supermarket. It's a Tobacconist. I don't know why there is a bike above the door.
We took a brief detour on the return to the car and that's when we got into trouble.
These shops are dangerous
Daniel did the purchasing. He ordered the baguette and the proprietor then gave him the small patisserie on the left in the above photo. It was very sweet and sticky.
I had the strawberry tart convincing myself it was mostly fruit!
Our new hotel room has air conditioning but no fridge. The last room had no air conditioning but had a fridge. I can live without the fridge!

That strawberry tart look so delicious, you really needed it after your bike ride, but you should have had a bread roll too, for protein and extra energy.
