The Great Toilet Paper Wipe-out

The run on toilet paper continues.  It’s pure panic buying driven initially by rumours on social media and then continuously reported by the mainstream media.  Supermarkets are rationing the stuff but as the item is bulky, they can’t place much of the stock on the shelves and as a consequence it disappears quickly.  The appearance of a shortage then triggers more panic buying.

Jan has read the shortage is due to rumours that toilet paper can be converted to face masks.  All I can say is “Make sure your lips are dry!” No doubt some of this purchasing is price speculation with the purchaser hoping to re-sell when there is a significant shortage.  Good luck with that.  If our supply is depleted we’ll use the facial tissues and then the newspaper.  After that I’ll run the garden hose in through the toilet window.

Being a “multi-national” citizen I could point out to my aussie friends they are full of it hence the panic.  But I wouldn’t do that….. or would I?

Jan always buys a replacement pack when we’re halfway through the previous.  Apparently we have 36 rolls that with careful rationing should last us until 2025.
