You may be wondering why there have been no updates to the blog for more than a month. Rumours of my demise are greatly exaggerated. I've been on an 8000km road trip around the western half of Australia accompanied by Carlin, our eldest grandson. An interesting trip which I will describe of the next few posts.
Several things needed to be done before setting off. Carlin needed to learn how to fly the drone as I wanted to record some aerial video footage during the trip.
It didn't take long for him to master the basics.
Next was an equipment check.
The trailer was packed whilst Jan prepared some of the home made pre-cooked frozen meals we would take.
The last task was to fit the high gain radio aerial and mounting for the sand flag to the 4WD bullbar.
And now for out planned route
- Perth - Kalgoorlie
- Kalgoorlie - Laverton
- Laverton - Yulara
- Yulara - Alice Springs
- Alice Springs - Kakadu National Park
- Kakadu - Darwin
- Darwin - Lake Argyle
- Duncan Road
- Halls Creek - Bungle Bungles
- Bungle Bungles - Kununurra
- Kununurra - Derby
- Derby - Broome
- Broome - Exmouth
- Exmouth - Coral Bay
- Coral Bay - Kalbarri
- Kalbarri - Geraldton
- Geraldton - Perth
Should be an interesting trip involving several track and little used unsealed roads.

Yes, we did wonder about the blogging silence. So now we are looking forward to reading about your massive road trip, pleased you made it home safely. Or did you - wonder what tales of crisis, near misses, dangerous brushes with wildlife, flat tires and the like you will be relating?
