Obviously it can get very hot in Australia and when camping or caravanning searching for a shady campsite is a consideration. However a shady campsite does have disadvantages. For example; if you are freedom camping and don’t have a mains power connection then you are probably using solar panels. Often these are mounted on the roof of the camper/caravan or vehicle, which means they won’t be receiving much sunlight. It’s for this reason our camper solar panels are free standing and on a long cable. However there is a second disadvantage with a shady campsite.
I never camp under large trees!
